The activity will continue from September to October 2015 and from June to October 2017 and links up tightly with the above activity. It will include the monitoring of bark beetle species on pines and other woody plants (with respect to the species composition, development of harmful agents – consideration of urgency and potential further development). Two methods will be used to monitor the species composition of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae).
This activity will be attended primarily by experts in forest protection, members of the target group, to learn how to distinguish the bark beetle species in the field and to acquire experience to determine their scope of action with plotting in the map. The output of the activity will be a set of maps, and a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of damages caused by the bark beetles (linkage to Output 1.3 and Output 1.4) along with methodological procedures and recommendations.
